Latest Softball News – 6/2/09
Lauryn Turcotte, SR Softball Gators, hit a grand slam on Friday night against North Seminole in the District 25 TOC tournament. She followed with a single run game winning homer last night against New Tampa to force a second game tonight for the championship against New Tampa.
The Minor A Gators softball, coached by Tim Tipton, are playing in the championship game tonight, also against New Tampa. The little Gators are undefeated in the tournament thus far.
Brian Grant’s Major Softball Bruins are coming out of the loser’s bracket tonight to face New Tampa for the championship after forcing the second game in a 5-4 defeat of New Tampa last night.
The girls are lining up for a sweep!
2009 Fall Season Info
Land O’ Lakes Little League Fall 2009 Season
• Registration runs 4/30/09 through 8/15/2009. The cost for players age 8 and below is $65.00 and for age 9 and above is $95. Boys and girls ages 4-16 may register.
• All manager and coach candidates MUST be registered online no later than August 1, 2009. Only online registrations will be accepted. All background checks and manager interviews must be completed by August 15, 2009.
• Both parents and guardians should be registered on the website. This greatly increases our communications base.
• Teams assignments will be available after August 20, 2009.
• Practices begin September 8, 2009, and play continues through November 21, 2009.
• Shirts and caps will be provided for all players. Caps will be provided for one manager and two coaches.
• Parent and coach team shirts may be ordered online along with your registration. They will also be sold during the first practice week.
• Medical release forms, birth certificates ( for players not registered for the Spring 2009 season) and proofs of residency must be checked at the first practice.
2009 Land O Lakes Little League Fall Ball Registration
The registration is now open online for the Land O’ Lakes Little League Fall 2009 season. The season runs from September 8, 2009 through November 21, 2009. It is open to baseball and softball players ages 4-16. The fees are $65.00 for ages 4-8 and $95.00 for ages 9-16.
Please go to www.landolakeslittleleague.org and follow the registration link to our registration site. If you already have an account, simply log on and click the registration button then follow the prompts. Your registration is not complete until you have checked out with a payment. The deadline for registration is August 15, 2009. If you are interested in coaching or managing a team you must register yourself no later than August 1, 2009.

2009 Land O Lakes Little League Board Elections
If you are interested in serving on the Board of the Land O’ Lakes Little League, please contact us at littleleaguelol AT yahoo.com by THURSDAY, May 7th, 2009. In your email use the subject line ‘2009 Elections’. Please submit a brief written statement of your volunteer qualifications and background, and what you anticipate your role of contribution would be. Please indicate if you plan to be a manager or coach for the upcoming year as the number of managers and coaches shall not exceed a minority of the total board members, per Little League rules.
Currently there are nine slots available for managers/coaches. We are looking for people who have TIME TO DEVOTE TO THIS, relevant experience, and a commitment to help the League as a whole. Please keep in mind that a position on the Board of Directors will require several hours a week commitment during the fall and spring seasons for a one year period beginning August 1st 2009.
Emails received after Thursday, May 7th, 2009 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Land O’ Lakes Little League is for our community, and this election process will ensure that our community is fairly represented and endorsed. It is important that you take the time to both vote and to consider now whether or not you are willing and able to participate as a Board Member and have something you can contribute to the continued successful functioning of our League. There will be a brief meeting for all candidates on Thursday evening, May 7, 2009, at 7:00pm at the concession stand at the north fields.
The election will take place on Saturday May 9th 2009 at the north fields from 9:00am until 7:00pm. You will be allowed one vote per family. Please bring photo ID.

Fields Closed Today Due To Rain – 4/12/09

No practices or games will take place this evening.
Special Fund Raiser for Keelyn
Tijuana Flats will be holding a fund raiser for one of our softball players, Keelyn, whose dad (Santos Cardona) was killed in action February 28, 2009 in Afghanistan when his Hummer hit a roadside bomb. He had been living in Land O Lakes for about 18 months and didn’t miss any of her games last spring season.
The fund raiser will be on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Tijuana Flats on Collier Pkwy and Hwy 54 from 4pm-8pm. They will donate 20% of the profits from the night to a fund that has been set up for her college. There will be a raffle for some items from local shops, as well as a balloon artist or face painter to entertain the kids.
A very thanks to everyone in advance for your support with the fund raiser to help Keelyn.
